Laura Peters, Head of Advice and Information Services at Mental Health UK has given some very helpful tips on the best way to handle anxiety so you're not feeling too worried on your return to work:

  • know exactly what you're anxious about in the first place - this is key to identifying ways to combat it.
  • once you know this, ask yourself can the source of the anxiety be removed?
  • then, take your thoughts to court - this is interrogating your thoughts and weighing up the evidence for and against it
  • finally, maintain an open dialogue with your line manager - sharing your thoughts can help people understand how they can support you.
