05/12/2018
We are happy to announce our 'Volunteer of the month' for December 2018 is Ross Bowman.
Ross joined the Healthwatch Darlington volunteering team in May 2018.
Ross is newly qualified in administration and he is hoping to gain a role as an administrator in the near future.
Chief Executive Officer, Michelle Thompson:
"Ross is a great member of our volunteer team and we’ve been delighted to see his confidence grow over the time he has been with us. He is always eager to help in whatever way he can, from ordering leaflets to helping out at events and representing us in the community. His enthusiasm and happiness radiates through the team and it’s for this reason I’m so glad he has been recognised as our Volunteer of the Month! Well done Ross, we’re proud to know you!"
Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator, Jemma Austin:
"I am really pleased to know Ross and I’ve been enjoying having his involvement with Healthwatch Darlington’s activities. As I’ve got to know Ross it’s become apparent very quickly that he’s such a hardworking individual who wants to make a difference. Ross’s happiness and enthusiasm is refreshing, and we are very glad he picked to volunteer for Healthwatch Darlington. Well done!"
How did you first find out about volunteering opportunities at Healthwatch Darlington?
"I went on the website called Do-It and the opportunity appealed to me. I could see myself helping Healthwatch Darlington and it would help me increase my admin skills."
Why did you to decide to join the team?
"I wanted to do more and to get more experience in the health sector. I wanted to help people who needed it by pointing them in the right direction."
What has been your volunteering highlight so far at Healthwatch Darlington?
"Taking part in community events. Being given the opportunity to represent Healthwatch Darlington at the Hospital and the Living with and Beyond Cancer event."
Do you have any tips for anyone considering to volunteer for Healthwatch Darlington?
"If anyone would like to give a couple of hours of their time per week that would be outstanding. You will be part of the volunteering group and get the chance to be involved in projects and events. This will help improve your communication skills, which will help you get back into work, just like me."
