Webinar with Sue Ryder - Engaging with people with a neurological condition - “Every Voice Counts”
NHS England has teamed up with a number of voluntary sector and patient group partners to deliver a series of webinars for NHS England staff who want to learn more about engaging with patients and the public. The webinars will focus on how NHS England can improve our engagement with lesser heard groups who experience health inequalities. Each webinar will focus on different patient groups or communities. We will cover some of the challenges facing different patient groups and will explore practical tips and solutions to involve different patient groups in improving NHS services and commissioning. The webinars will be jointly delivered by NHS England and subject matter experts.
The next webinar in this series is on 25 April at 1200-1300 and is "Every Voice Counts" by Pam Grandison from Sue Ryder.
"For people with a communication disorder it is often difficult to express their needs and to ensure that their voice is heard. This webinar aims to help you to engage and communicate with people who live with long term neurological conditions or disorders of the brain that make communication difficult for them and their speech difficult to understand. We will discuss common neurological conditions, how these impact on communication and what strategies and aids can be used to help those with such conditions to communicate. Following the webinar we hope that you will feel more confident to include and involve this seldom heard group so that their voices are heard and we are able to gain a better understanding of their personal healthcare experience."
