Darlington Libraries - Cockerton branch celebrates special milestone on Wednesday 2nd September

The popular and well-loved Cockerton branch library celebrates its 50th birthday next week, having first opened on 2 September 1970, and you can be there!

Darlington Library’s Cockerton branch will be marking this special occasion by opening it's doors for quick pick borrowing and book returns.

Throughout the day – on Wednesday 2 September, 10am - 4pm - visitors will also be able to view old photographs of the library on display boards to the exterior of the building and there will be balloon modelling outside between 2pm – 4pm for children using the library. The photo display will also be available on the Darlington Library website.

There will also be a musician performing interpretations of songs from the 1970s at 10am - 10.30am, 12pm - 12.30pm and 3.15pm - 3.45pm.

From Thursday 3 September the branch’s temporary opening hours will be:

Mondays, Wednesday, Fridays - 9.30am - 1pm

Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays - 1pm - 4pm

It's now even easier to keep up-to-date with news and events from Darlington Library with the launch of a new Library App. It is currently available on Android devices and will shortly be available from Apple stores.
