As a team, Denmark Street Surgery have recently reviewed the role of what was their Medical Receptionist Team. This role is a very challenging and complex role and the team felt that the term ‘Receptionist’ did not truly reflect what they do on a day to day basis. The team worked together to come up with a job title that they are proud of, that reflects their professionalism and also portrays their highly demanding role within the practice team. Their job title is now known as ‘Patient Liaison Assistant’ and they are part of their ‘Patient Liaison Team’ which consists of a ‘Patient Liaison Team Lead’, ‘Patient Liaison Team Supervisor’ and ‘Patient Liaison Assistants’.

They would like to raise awareness and offer an understanding of this role to their patients and their wider community, and to do this one of their Patient Liaison Assistants has kindly written an article describing ‘A Day In The Life Of A Patient Liaison Assistant’. They hope that you enjoy reading about what this role entails.
