Maternal Mental Health Matters Awareness Week - 3rd - 9th May 2021

Untreated, perinatal mental illness is one of the leading causes of death for women during pregnancy and the first year after birth. Are you aware of some of the mental health difficulties and symptoms?

Did you know if you are worried about your own or someone else you know mental wellbeing during or after pregnancy you can speak to your midwife or GP.

They may be able to refer you to County Durham and Darlington perinatal community mental health team who provide community support to women who are experiencing mental health difficulties during pregnancy or in the first year after they have had their baby. The team is made up of specialist community psychiatric nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, specialist community nursery nurses, support workers, team manager and administrative staff.
