Youth Mental Health First Aid - opportunity to host a 2 day qualification course and receive 6 fully subsidised places for your organisation.

1 in 6 school aged children have an mental health problem (NHS digital 2020) and as one of our top priorities, here at the CHWB Network we are looking at a range of ways to help our Network Members support children’s health and wellbeing here in the North East and North Cumbria. During our YMHFA pilot we had a huge demand for the 2 day qualification and we delighted that we are now able to expand this offer of  training

Thanks to NHS Charities Together and CDDFT Charity for supporting us with funding of £242,650.00 from the Covid-19 Community Partnership Grants Programme (North East and North Cumbria). This will enable us to offer the opportunity for VCSE organisations to take part in our Youth Mental Health First Aid Awareness Project which would upskill professionals working in to communities to support children, young people and families.

We are really excited to let you know that our cohort of Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructors are currently in training with Mental Health First Aid England. Once qualified they will be delivering the 2 day YMHFA course to our Network Members and we are looking for host organisations who have a suitable venue for the training that can be used in our communities across the North East and North Cumbria.

Requirements of the room

  • Can hold 18 people comfortably
  • Natural light 
  • Plenty of space for movement  
  • Projection facilities 
  • At least one flip chart stand and A1 paper 
  • Laid out in either u-shape or boardroom.   
  • Is available on 2 consecutive days between the months of May and September 20222

Requirements of Organisation

  • Agree dates to hold the 2 day course at your venue.
  • Have facilities in place to allow people to access the course.
  • Utilise your 6 fully funded places.

Please note that hosting organisations will be allocated 6 of the 16 places which is worth over £1800 of fully subsidised training which is a qualification in Youth Mental Health First Aid with MHFA England. Details of the course can be accessed here.

Once our venues have been secured then places on these courses will be offered to our network members on a first come first served basis with waiting lists in place. We have currently have 10 courses available and we will be looking at geographical spread of perspective sites. Deadline – Thursday 24th March 2022.
