Parental Mental Health and Safeguarding 7 minute briefing

A 7 minute briefing document has been developed on the back of a learning lessons review undertaken by Darlington Safeguarding Partnership.

This follows three cases being referred to the Learning and Development Group where parental mental health was highlighted as a factor.

The cases highlighted practitioners were not recognising the impact or risk parental mental health had on children in the family home, there was an absence of a ‘whole family approach’.

The briefing provides an overview of the review and its findings, what was learned from the three cases and what the Partnership has agreed to do as a result of the review.   Additional guidance on the signs to look out for, good practice and signposting to additional information is also provided.

The briefing is available to download below, and is also on the Partnerships Website.
