Honouring Diversity and Progress in Medicine for LGBT+ History Month 2024

This year, LGBT+ History Month focuses on the fascinating theme of "Medicine," shining a spotlight on the remarkable contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals in the field.

The following is directly from Arcus.

As we explore the intersection of identity and medical achievements, we aim to foster awareness, understanding, and appreciation for the diverse voices that have shaped the landscape of medicine.

This week we honour....

Dr. Pauli Murray

LGBT+ History Month 2024! This week’s notable person in medicine, whom we celebrate as part of LGBT+ History Month is Dr. Pauli Murray (1910-1985). An African American queer woman, Dr. Pauli Murray was a civil rights activist, lawyer, and the first African American woman to become an Episcopal priest. Her work paved the way for a more inclusive approach to healthcare, emphasizing the importance of addressing intersectional issues in medicine.
