NEPACS - Training for March and April 2024

Nepacs, a charity with provides support to individuals impacted by adverse situations in their lives (such as involvement in the criminal justice or care systems), are currently offering a range of virtual training that might be of interest to you if you work with children or families inc health care, local authorities, criminal justice, education and the voluntary sector.

Dates available are as follows:

Hidden sentence awareness – 17 April 2024 9.30am to 12noon – cost £20pp

This 2.5 hours training course will give you an awareness of the impact of offending on the families of offenders, the support needs of these families and the benefits of maintaining family ties. It will also look at the various support services available to the families and friends of offenders.

 

Hidden sentence full day course (delivered virtually in two parts) – 14 and 21 March 2024, 9.30am to 12noon each session – cost £35pp

Hidden Sentence training is for any employees or volunteers whose work brings them into contact with families of prisoners, including health professionals, probation/CRC staff, school staff, child care providers, social workers, youth workers, play workers, local authority staff or community/voluntary workers. This training course delivered virtually over 2 sessions or as a full days training ill wgive you a clear overview of the offender's journey, its impact on the family from arrest to release, and a range of strategies and resources to help you support them in your work.

 

Care leaver awareness training – 12 March 2024 9.30am to 12.30pm – cost £25pp

This course will be of interest to those working with young people in both a community and custodial setting. The course explores what it means to be a care leaver and the potential issues faced by care experienced people. The course also gives awareness on the rights and entitlements of legal care leavers aged 18 to 25 years.

 

Parental rights in prison training – 27 March 2024, 9.30am to 12noon – cost £20pp

This is a 2.5 hour awareness session for all those who may work with a family where a parent is in custody or is at risk of going to custody. It looks at the legalities of parental rights and the challenges and barriers prisoners face in exercising their parental rights and remaining an active parent.

 

Listening skills support awareness training – 16 April 2024, 9.30am to 12noon – cost £20pp

In all aspects of life we are asked to listen to others and communicate in response, but how effective are we at doing this?

Listening support skills training sessions are for anyone who wants to improve their awareness and skills around listening and communicating with others both in a personal or professional capacity.

This 2.5 hours training course will give you an awareness of what it means to truly listen to others and the skills that are involved in doing this. This will then lead to being more effective in communication generally.
