NEPACS - Training for May and June 2025

Dates available are as follows:
- 14 May 2025, 1.30pm to 4pm - Hidden sentence awareness training
This 2.5 hours training course will give you an awareness of the impact of offending on the children and families of those with a loved one involved in the criminal justice system, the support needs of these families and the benefits of maintaining family ties. It will also look at the various support services available to the families and friends of individuals serving a sentence. This training is key for anyone who works with children and families in the community including students, health care, education, voluntary sector, local authority, police or probation staff.
- 19 May 2025, 1.30pm to 4.30pm – Care leaver awareness training
3 hour session for those working with young people in both a community and custodial setting. The course explores what it means to be a care leaver and the potential issues faced by care experienced people. The course also gives awareness on the rights and entitlements of legal care leavers aged 18 to 25 years.
- 5 June 2025, 1.30pm to 4pm – Parental rights in prison training
This is a 2.5 hour awareness session for all those who may work with a family where a parent is in custody or is at risk of going to custody. It looks at the legalities of parental rights and the challenges and barriers prisoners face in exercising their parental rights and remaining an active parent.
