The Bread and Butter Thing (TBBT) - Service open to all residents

The Bread and Butter Thing (TBBT) would like to let you know about their service available right across Darlington and how you can sign up for free.

The following is information The Bread and Butter Thing.

The Bread and Butter Thing is one of the UK’s leading food charities working at the forefront of the cost of living crisis. Our mobile food clubs are located in over 100 different hubs across the north of England and midlands to bring high quality, nutritious food into low-income neighbourhoods. Our aim is to alleviate poverty and to build community resilience.

We have a close relationship with 80,000 members, both at a community and organisational level. By regularly surveying them and asking for feedback, we are building a picture of some of the serious issues they face every day. This can be broken down to a local authority level and is used to inform projects we develop in those areas.

I believe together we can offer people a transformative service. Each of our hubs are welcoming, creative, places of engagement, with an average of 60-70 members who regularly attend and buy their food from us on a weekly basis. The trust we build with members by delivering food every week of the year provides a basis for great engagement. Also, because we don’t have any criteria and we aren’t a crisis service it means there is access to a broader range of people.

Our latest impact report is available here https://www.breadandbutterthing.org/impact we also have a podcast called a Slice of Bread and Butter which tells the stories of our members and volunteers and provides a unique insight into the work that we do.

Its available here - https://www.breadandbutterthing.org/podcast - and also on usual streaming platforms.
