Movember - raising awareness of men's health

All this month is Movember - a global campaign that raises awareness about men’s health issues, particularly prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention.

Movember encourages men to grow moustaches as a visible symbol of their commitment to the cause.

The Movember website gives lots of advice and information for men around their health. Here's five things men should know and do when it comes to their health:

  • Spend time with people who make you feel good - spending time with your friends is good for you, so stay connected.
  • Talk more - be there for someone, listen to them. It could be lifesaving.
  • Know your numbers - for example, if you're over 50, talk to your doctor about prostate cancer and if it's right for you to have a PSA (prostate specific antigen) test.
  • Know your testicles - get to know what's normal for your testicles. Check them regularly and go to the doctor if somethingh doesn't feel right.
  • Move more - Add more activity to your day, do something fun outdoors that make you feel good.
