The consultation document sets out the spatial vision and objectives for the future of Darlington Borough. Most of the adopted Local Plan remains up to date but some revisions have been suggested to reflect the extended plan period of 2025 to 2042, latest national policy and local circumstances.
Consultation Process & How To Comment
The Draft Local Plan Review 2025-2042 Regulation 18 Stage will be out to public consultation for a six-week period. This will run until 5pm on Tuesday 28th April 2026. Consultation documents and response forms are available on our website at:

The most efficient way to submit your comments is by using our online consultation form. Alternatively, you can provide us with your comments by completing a response form. These are available on our website, at the Town Hall, or Darlington and Cockerton Libraries. Forms can be emailed to Planning.policy@darlington.gov.uk
Only those representations that are received within the consultation period will have the right to have their representations considered. Representations containing defamatory remarks or abusive language will not be accepted. If your representation cannot be accepted, we will contact you to explain why.
