Our Place, Our Say 2025: Listening, Learning, and Building Stronger Communities

In 2025, a series of five community events across Tees Valley brought together people with learning disabilities, autistic individuals, and their families to share experiences, explore support services, and shape the future of local care.

The Our Place, Our Say 2025 initiative created a welcoming space for connection, conversation, and collaboration.

The feedback highlights both success and areas for improvement. A strong theme throughout the feedback was the importance of relationships and community. Participants emphasised that having supportive people in their lives is key to health and happiness. Family carers, in particular, highlighted the vital role of carers’ organisations, while many individuals spoke about wanting greater independence and stronger connections within their local areas.

The report also underscores the importance of accessible and meaningful day activities, alongside specialist services.
