Darlington Primary Care Network respond to Pharmacy Report

Darlington PCN would like to thank Healthwatch for this comprehensive review, and the people who took the time to respond to the questionnaire.

"Primary care has been under unprecedented pressure and has been since the pandemic.  Longer waiting times for outpatient clinics and planned operations at hospitals means more and more patients seeing their GPs to get help whilst they wait. Despite this pressure that affects both primary care and our local pharmacy teams, the report highlights over half of respondents had no problems obtaining their prescriptions.

We note the feedback from the comments particular to primary care, and I am sure the surgeries involved would appreciate this feedback on an individual basis so these issues can be addressed.  I have read the case study. Most practices will have protocols in place to follow when something has been stopped from the electronic repeat dispensing prescriptions.  I will make a point of highlighting this the 11 GP practices that make up Darlington PCN, so we can all learn from this.

Once again thank you for all the hard work that went into this report, and for asking us to comment on it".

Helen McLeish,  Joint Clinical Director Darlington PCN
