The Red Bench Project - Saving lives one bench at a time
The Red Bench Project are a suicide prevention charity who wants to try and help those who are struggling and who may be feeling desperate, possibly even close to taking their own life.
Set up in 2023, the Red Bench Project are aiming to place benches in various locations around the UK and have began to do so in South Tyneside with further funding for more benches to be placed around the North East.
The aim of a bench is to give people a place to calm, clear your head or be a silent way for people to ask for help. It is also hoped that if someone recognises a bench and see's someone sitting there, they talk to them and hopefully that simple gesture can make a difference in someone's life.
