The Great North Care Record Report 2018

Find out how Healthwatch Darlington worked with other regional local Healthwatch organisations to listen to services users about what they think about digital patient records.

Summary

Local Healthwatch organisations worked with Newcastle University to understand the regional voice when it comes to patient records and how service users would like these to be shared in a digitalised future.

“Healthwatch Darlington communicated clearly and effectively and were there to answer
queries”

The objectives and public agenda were as follows:

• We learn about the Great North Care Record and what is means for us.

• We discover what is meant by a “model of consent” for information sharing.

• We understand the current limitations of information sharing at the point of care, planning and research and the potential issues.

• We give our views and “tolerance levels” of how information sharing may develop going forward.

• We have our say by working together.

• We understand more about how individuals can use their voice to influence change.

Acknowledgments

Healthwatch Darlington really enjoyed coordinating a regional piece of work and working with other local Healthwatch organisations, in an effort provide service users across the region with an opportunity to share their views on the future of patients medical records and how these can be accessed.
