A Safe Space is a registered venue committed to offering help and support to anyone who feels anxious, frightened, or at risk while out in the community. These venues provide a quiet, calm area where individuals can sit and feel safe. Staff are available to listen, offer reassurance, and, if needed, contact a family member, friend, or emergency services.

Researchers from Teesside University, working on behalf of TVCA, are looking into the transport difficulties people experience when getting to and from work, education, and training. The research aims to understand how these barriers can be removed so more people can access opportunities.  

Teesside University is running in partnership with Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Manchester as part of the Mental Health Leadership Award to understand what matters most to people when it comes to mental health, so that future research reflects real community needs and priorities.

Mental health is a growing concern, and our area faces serious challenges. Darlington, has one of the highest suicide rates in the country, particularly among working-age men, and high rates of admission to NHS mental health wards.

The North East Youth Alliance in partnership with Middlesbrough Youth Mutual are running a Youth Voice event on Thursday 26th February 2026, 11am - 2pm at Myplace (North St, Middlesbrough TS2 1JP). 

The Parent Carer Forum are hosting a post-16 event at Blackwell Grange Hotel in Darlington on the 18th February.
